We are a Growth Invention company built to help the world’s most ambitious brands grow faster. Operating at the intersection of technology and marketing, we create what is next by pioneering ideas, acting fast, and moving further because standing still just is not in our DNA.
We are drawn to people who stay curious, move with intent, and never stop inventing. Our culture runs on three values: better together, relentlessly curious, and get sh*t done. It is how we work, how we grow, and how we make things that matter.
At DEPT®, you will find the freedom to explore, the space to collaborate, and the trust to make a real impact for our clients, for each other, and for the world we are helping to build.
We are looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our team and help shape the future of our data strategy. In this role, you will transform raw data into high-quality, self-serve data artifacts, applying a quantitative framework to solve complex business problems. You are someone who bridges the gap between raw engineering and business insights, ensuring our data ecosystem is scalable, trustworthy, and actionable.
Our ideal candidate is excited about data modeling, applied statistics, and building the foundation for a truly data-driven organization. At DEPT® Data & Engineering, we pride ourselves on our pragmatic, engineering approach to making data work for the business.
- Design and build flexible, trustworthy data models using dbt and SQL. You will transform data from multiple sources into reusable, business-friendly datasets.
- Work directly with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance to define requirements, realign expectations when scope changes, and deliver technical solutions to business needs.
- Lead discovery on data tools and infrastructure. Participate in the technical design of schemas and pipelines, ensuring best practices for project architecture and QA.
- Build and maintain semantic layers and documentation to enable self-service analytics, helping data consumers find the right datasets to answer questions quickly.
- Proactively identify design flaws in data models and implement fixes. Manage the end-to-end ecosystem, including ETL/ELT, data governance, and performance optimization.
- Research solutions independently and the intuition to know when to ask for help versus when to innovate.
- Translate complex business questions into technical specs and present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in system design and offering sound guidance on data risks and dependencies.
- 4+ years of applied analytics/data engineering experience, preferably within a fast-paced tech company or consulting environment.
- Expert-level SQL: Ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize complex scripts for performance and cost.
-
- dbt (Data Build Tool): Proven experience using dbt to manage the transformation layer of the modern data stack.
- Data Modeling: Strong expertise in industry concepts (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema) and building semantic layers.
-
- Cloud Warehousing: Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift).
- BI & Visualization: Proficiency in defining data models and measures in tools like Looker or Tableau.
