Here at DIALOG, we are passionate about design and believe it can and should meaningfully improve the wellbeing of our communities and the environment we all share.

We are a multi-disciplinary practice of architects, interior designers, urban designers and planners, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, landscape architects and sustainability experts who design for community wellbeing and urban vibrancy. We are a fun-loving bunch of big thinkers and city-shapers, who are collaborative in our approach, diverse in our perspectives, aspirational in our pursuits, and optimistic about what’s next. We’re always looking for passionate people who share our values and care as much about our communities as we do. We're proud to be a Certified B Corporation and one of Canada's Greenest Employers, committed to using our design practice as a force for good in the world.

We are seeking an Intermediate Urban Designer to join our collaborative and multidisciplinary team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of planning and urban design projects. In this role, you will help shape vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable urban environments through thoughtful analysis, creative design, and meaningful engagement. Working across all project phases – from early visioning to implementation – you will collaborate with DIALOGers, clients, and communities to develop innovative, human-centered solutions that respond to complex urban challenges.
  • Contribute across all phases of planning and urban design projects - from analysis and visioning through to concept development, policy direction, and implementation strategies.

  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team and engage diverse clients, stakeholders, Indigenous communities, and the public.

  • Plan, organize, and lead stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes, including facilitating meetings, preparing materials, and delivering presentations as well as summarizing input and preparing engagement summaries.

  • Work on a wide range of projects, from site-specific plans to area-wide policies and master plans, as well as design guidelines.

  • Conduct research, analysis, and studies to inform policy development and design outcomes, including best practices in urban design, sustainability, and related fields.

  • Prepare and coordinate visual and communication materials, including 2D/3D diagrams, models, presentations, and proposal graphics.

  • Prepare compelling reports and other written materials that are clear, well structured, highly visual, and tailored to the audience.

  • Coordinate project tasks, timelines, and deliverables, while independently leading regular client meetings and supporting overall project management.

  • Degree in urban design, planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or related field (master’s degree is preferred), with 5–10 years of relevant experience.

  • Strong skills in graphic representation (e.g., massing studies, visualizations, diagrams) and proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Rhino, and/or SketchUp.

  • Effective communicator with strong written, visual, and verbal skills to convey design, process, policy concepts, and implementation strategies.

  • Collaborative, inclusive, and people-focused, with the ability to engage meaningfully with diverse stakeholders.

  • Creative and thoughtful, with experience in innovative and accessible engagement approaches and a passion for human-centered design.

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable - able to manage complexity, respond to changing project needs, and take initiative as a proactive self-starter.

  • IAP2, GBA+, or similar certifications.

  • Experience with Revit, Lumion, Enscape or other parametric/rendering tools

  • Registered Professional Planner or being eligible
