A Principal Category Manager, develops and executes category plans to drive improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, supplier service levels, coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payments and risk mitigation. Executes category sourcing strategies including development and implementation of RFIs and RFPs, selection criteria, supplier negotiation and ongoing supplier management. Engages with operations, production, sales and other cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing alignment and support of category management or new product introduction goals and objectives.
- Provides Category Management advice and consultation across the company.
- Exercises global purchasing responsibility for a dedicated mechanical or electromechanical category.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of supplier governance and management processes to ensure sustained value and mitigation of suppler risk.
- Monitors cost trends for assigned categories, reporting on impact and avoidance strategies.
- Develops category baseline information to ensure understanding of current supplier / spend underpins decisions related to performance planning, total cost management and value improvement.
- Collects and conducts analysis of spend and other relevant data to identify expense reduction and operational improvement opportunities.
- Leads strategic supplier negotiations, driving positive outcomes that achieve all relevant total cost and business objectives.
- Monitors supplier performance and end-user satisfaction through the terms of the contract.
- Develops and ensures execution of category strategies that balance company / supplier relationships in collaboration with business partners.
- Addresses and recommends issue / risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
~1 min read- Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in Category Management. Specific experience in managing subcontracting and rigging suppliers preferred.
- Good business English skills (Written and spoken).
The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000 to $145,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as qualifications, skills, competencies, geographic location, and relevant experience. Certain roles may include additional components beyond base salary, such as incentive opportunities or other forms of variable compensation. Details of any such components will be discussed during the interview process and will be governed by the applicable plan documents.
