The Product Owner – Risk Management is responsible for managing the product backlog and ensuring the successful delivery of features supporting sportsbook risk management solutions. The role works closely with Risk Managers, Mathematicians, Data Scientists, Developers, QA Engineers, and Product Managers to translate business requirements into actionable development tasks.

The Product Owner ensures that delivered solutions improve operational efficiency, risk control, automation, customer risk assessment, and profitability while maintaining alignment with business priorities.


Responsibilities:

  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the product backlog for Risk Management products.
  • Ensure backlog items are aligned with business priorities and product roadmap objectives.
  • Prepare backlog items for Sprint Planning by ensuring they are well-defined and development-ready.
  • Gather and analyze business requirements from Risk Management, Mathematics, Operations, BI, and other stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, business rules, and acceptance criteria.
  • Continuously refine and clarify requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Work closely with Development and QA teams to ensure timely and high-quality feature delivery.
  • Support developers by providing functional clarifications during implementation.
  • Validate completed functionality before release.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of sportsbook risk management processes and tools.
  • Collaborate closely with Risk Managers to identify operational improvements, automation opportunities, and new product capabilities.
  • Assist in defining business logic for risk management features, including stake limits, customer profiling, liability management, exposure monitoring, and automated restrictions.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and development teams.
  • Ensure alignment between business expectations and delivered functionality.
  • Coordinate closely with Product Managers on roadmap execution and release planning.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Verify that delivered functionality meets business requirements.
  • Support issue analysis, bug prioritization, and continuous product improvements.
  • Monitor product KPIs and operational metrics.
  • Analyze feature adoption, system performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Support data-driven product improvements through reporting and analytics.


Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Risk Manager or Risk Analyst within the Sportsbook/iGaming industry.
  • Strong understanding of sportsbook risk management principles, including: Exposure Management, Liability Management, Stake Limits, Customer Risk Segmentation, Margin Management, Cashout, Automated Risk Controls

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working closely with Mathematics, BI, Operations, and Product teams.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience writing user stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing product backlogs.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Confluence, or similar Agile product management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Risk Management, Mathematics, Development, QA, BI, and Operations.
