The R&D Engineering team is part of the Surgical Research and Development at Hologic. This team is responsible for the research and development of our current Fluent, NovaSure and Assessa products as well as future product development in the area of women's health. The student selected for this role will help with software development tasks and testing associated with the existing devices and future products. The chosen candidate will learn the process of Medical Device design, development, testing, and the importance of documentation.
As a Software Engineering Co-op, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, participate in real-world projects, and gain hands-on experience in software development. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is eager to apply their academic knowledge to practical challenges and develop their skills in a professional environment.
Responsibilities

- →Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
- →Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- →Assist in testing, debugging and troubleshooting software issues.
- →Contribute to the development of automated tests to ensure code quality.
- →Work on documentation and contribute to project planning sessions.
Requirements
~1 min read- Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) over the co-op term (Fall: July – December)
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and have at least one semester remaining to complete after the internship
- Rising Junior or Rising Senior
- Majoring in software engineering preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience or exposure to working with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Java and Python.
- Have experience with embedded development.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be a self-starter and resourceful problem-solver with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to work onsite at our Marlborough, MA campus. Intern housing, relocation, and housing stipends are not provided
The hourly pay range for this role is $26 - $28 per hour. Compensation is determined by class standing and operational function.
