The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) is seeking qualified and professional individuals to serve as Regional Reentry Coordinators in three regions of the State: North (Birmingham), Central (Montgomery) and the South (Atmore).
Salary: $55,375.20 to $93,096.00. | Full-Time | State Benefits, Insurance, & Retirement
Note: The starting salary is determined based on education, experience, or a combination of both.
The Regional Reentry Coordinator is full-time, permanent, supervisory position in our Program Services Division. This role operates within correctional institutions and community corrections facilities across the state. The position is responsible for overseeing social services, reentry and case management programs designed to support the rehabilitation, behavioral management, and successful reintegration of incarcerated individuals.
Key Responsibilities -
Program Management & Oversight
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and supervise comprehensive social service and case management programs.
• Oversee services including inmate assessment, counseling, rehabilitation programming, family services, and reentry planning.
• Ensure all programs align with departmental policies, legal standards, and evidence-based correctional practices.
Staff Supervision
• Supervise and support professional and paraprofessional staff delivering social services.
• Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure staff maintain accurate and timely case documentation.
Case Management & Rehabilitation
• Monitor inmate case plans and progress toward rehabilitation goals.
• Support development of individualized service plans focusing on behavioral improvement and successful reintegration.
• Guide staff in addressing complex social, behavioral, and mental health needs.
Coordination & Collaboration
• Work closely with correctional security personnel to maintain a safe and structured environment.
• Collaborate with external agencies, community organizations, and service providers to support reentry and transition planning. Specific coordination and collaboration with external education providers, e.g. J.F. Ingram State Technical College.
• Facilitate continuity of care for individuals transitioning back into the community.
Program Evaluation & Compliance
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using data and performance metrics.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and departmental procedures.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance service delivery.
Work Environment -
• Work is performed in correctional institutions and community corrections settings.
• Requires interaction with incarcerated individuals and justice-involved populations.
• Involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including security staff, counselors, and external partners.
Minimum Qualifications -
Option 1 (Promotional Register):
• Current, permanent status with the Department of Corrections in one of the following roles:
Senior Social Worker
Social Service Case Worker II
Classification Specialist Senior
Classification Supervisor
OR
Option 2:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in any field AND
• Three (3) years of professional experience in social work or correctional case management working with incarcerated or justice-involved populations
AND
• Completion of at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) in social or behavioral science courses
• Experience areas may include:
Inmate services
Rehabilitation programming
Reentry services
Counseling
Institutional case management
OR
Option 3:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in any field AND
• Completion of at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) in social or behavioral science courses AND
• Two (2) years of professional experience in social work or correctional case management with justice-involved populations in areas such as:
Inmate services
Rehabilitation programming
Reentry services
Counseling
Institutional case management
Additional Requirements -
• Applicants may be required to submit official transcripts or a detailed list of completed coursework in social or behavioral sciences.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet security clearance requirements for correctional facilities.
