The NOC Engineer is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s network, compute infrastructure, and critical systems. The role ensures high availability, optimal performance, and rapid resolution of incidents to minimize business disruption.
Responsibilities
~1 min read· Provide second-level operational support for network, system, and application incidents within the NOC environment.
· Actively analyze alerts and incidents to diagnose root causes and perform remediation within defined authority and procedures.
· Escalate complex issues to engineering or vendor teams with clear documentation, impact analysis, and troubleshooting details.
· Support network devices, servers, virtualization platforms, cloud services, and critical business applications.
· Monitor SLA adherence, incident trends, and recurring issues; recommend operational improvements.
· Participate in incident bridges during major outages and contribute to restoration efforts and post-incident reviews.
· Execute and validate planned changes, patches, and maintenance activities during approved change windows.
· Update and improve runbooks, escalation paths, and operational documentation.
· Assist with mentoring NOC Administrators and reviewing incident handling quality.
· Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and security teams to improve system stability and monitoring coverage.
· Strong troubleshooting and issue isolation
· Understanding of networking, systems, and cloud fundamentals
· Incident management and escalation judgment
· Effective collaboration and communication
· Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field
· More advanced certifications or relevant experience
· Network monitoring and performance tools
· Servers, virtualization, and cloud platforms
· ITSM and incident management systems
· Log analysis and alerting tools
· Prolonged sitting and computer usage
· Frequent keyboard and mouse use
· Occasional extended hours for deployments or incident resolution
· Recommended Years of Experience: 3+ years
· Travel: 0-10%
· FLSA Status: Exempt
