The plants in Dublin Zoo are an essential part of the landscape, simulating the habitat of various animals, and providing an immersive experience for our visitors - a journey to discover realistic settings of particular habitats.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Horticulture Intern to join our Horticultural team on a 12-week full-time internship.

The successful candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience and expertise in the horticultural field while supporting the services provided by the Zoo. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to develop their skills in a unique zoological environment.

The intern will support the team in maintaining the green appearance of Dublin Zoo, ensuring that the Zoo has a wide variety of plants and care for their good condition.

The Horticulture Team deals with diverse challenges from poisonous plant management, soil compaction issues, visitor questions to providing educational materials, apart from the demands of maintaining and developing a very diverse range of plants.

The role involves regular activities such as planting, pruning, weeding, monitoring plants and learning to use necessary machinery under supervision.
