~1 min readAs a Quantum Error Correction Engineer (f/m/d) at eleQtron, you will be part of a team with a mission to develop, set up and operate our trapped-ion quantum computers and relevant test devices. You will collaborate closely with our international team of physicists and engineers from different disciplines. Depending on your level of experience, you will work on one or more of the following tasks:

Develop and implement quantum error correction codes and error mitigation techniques for trapped-ion quantum computers
- →
Optimize gate sequences and decoding strategies, leveraging stabilizer formalism and fault-tolerant approaches
- →
Perform noise characterization and benchmarking to guide hardware and software improvements
- →
Implement QEC protocols, producing clear technical documentation, reports, or publications
- →
Stay updated on research in QEC and NISQ-era error mitigation, and translate insights into actionable improvements
PhD in (theoretical)physics, mathematics, computer science, or related field, or MSc with demonstarted experience in quantum error correction through research, industrial projects, or substantial open-source contributions
Hands-on experience implementing QEC codes or error mitigation techniques on real or simulated quantum hardware
Strong knowledge of QEC codes (e.g., LDPC codes, surface codes, bosonic codes, subsystem codes), stabilizer formalism, and fault-tolerant design
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with quantum computing frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, or QuTiP
Ability to work independently on complex problems and deliver high-quality results
Fluency in English
Experience with trapped-ion physics or any other quantum hardware platforms
Knowledge of numerical optimization techniques or quantum control
Experience in interdisciplinary teams and agile development
