Civil Construction Labourer

Job Title-Civil Construction Labourer
Location: Windsor,ON
Pay: $20-23 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

1. Site preparation 

• Clearing and leveling the construction site 

• Digging trenches, holes, and foundations 

• Loading and unloading materials and equipment 

• Erecting scaffolding and temporary structures 

 

1. Construction and maintenance 

• Mixing, pouring, and spreading concrete and other materials 

• Operating heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, and cranes 

• Using hand and power tools to cut and shape materials 

• Installing and repairing drainage systems, sewer lines, and water mains 

• Assisting skilled tradespeople such as carpenters and masons 

 

1. Safety and compliance 

• Following safety procedures and regulations 

• Wearing personal protective equipment 

• Identifying and reporting hazards and unsafe conditions 

• Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations 

 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

 

1. Education and Training 

• High school diploma or equivalent 

• On-the-job training is often provided by the employer 

 

1. Physical Demands 

• Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks 

• Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions 

 

1. Experience 

• Experience in construction or a related field is an asset 

• Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset 

 

1. Skills and Abilities 

• Strong attention to detail 

• Good communication skills 

• Ability to work well in a team 

• Basic mathematical skills 

• Good problem-solving skills 

• Willingness to learn and take on new tasks 

 

 

Working Conditions 

 

1. Work Schedule 

• Civil construction labourers typically work full-time, with some overtime and weekend work required 

• May also be required to work on call or on short notice 

 

1. Environment 

• Construction sites can be loud, dirty, and hazardous 

• May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces 

 

1. Travel 

• Some travel may be required to work on different construction sites
