| Position Summary: |
Make a difference in the academic journey of student-athletes! This position works within the Office of Academic Services for Student-Athletes (OASSA) and reports on a daily operations basis to the Director of Student-Athlete Support. OASSA works closely with the Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) and other academic support programs on campus in cooperation with the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Learning Initiatives. The Academic Coordinator is responsible for providing day-to-day academic oversight to assigned athletic teams, which includes utilizing advising skills to provide academic and personal support while monitoring academic achievements. This position tracks and serves the academic support needs of student-athletes representing diverse populations and executes strategies for sustaining and improving academic services. This may include assisting in preparation of individualized educational plans for academically at risk student-athletes, coordinating tutorial services and other learning support, or teaching a first year experience course. Additional responsibilities for departmental programming include strong organization and communication around course registration, new student-athlete orientation, and coordination of the academic center. This position will communicate and collaborate with student-athletes, campus holistic advisors, coaches, administration, faculty, and staff about academic support services. All UD Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference. Assist students in applying holistic strategies and techniques to promote student success, a sense of belonging and student agency. Co-teach summer bridge course as an introduction to life as a student athlete at UD. |
