HVAC Technician

Location: Baltimore, MD
Job Type: Non-Exempt W-2, Hourly – Full-Time
Shift & Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (40 hours/week)
- Scheduling needs may vary based on business demands, and adjustments may be required as reasonably assigned.
Pay Rate: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and credentials.
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and reliable HVAC Technician to perform inspections, repairs, installations, and routine maintenance across a variety of residential and commercial properties. This role offers flexible scheduling and is ideal for a licensed technician seeking supplemental work or project-based assignments.
The HVAC Technician will respond to service calls and support seasonal maintenance and system upgrades, ensuring energy efficiency, tenant comfort, and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC Installation & Repair:
- Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, and ventilation units.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to airflow, thermostats, refrigerant, mechanical components, and electrical systems.
- Perform seasonal tune-ups and preventative maintenance to maximize system performance.
- Respond to emergency repair requests in a timely and professional manner.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate service logs, material usage, and repair documentation.
- Follow applicable regulations including COMAR, CARF, and company policies related to service delivery and safety.
Collaboration & Operational Support:
- Collaborate with property managers, maintenance teams, and contractors as needed.
- Assist supervisors with additional work-related requests and operational support initiatives.
- Participate in audits, quality assurance activities, safety drills, and performance improvement plans.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding client and operational information.
Licenses / Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Valid Maryland HVAC License (Journeyman or Master level)
- EPA 608 Certification required
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience servicing residential and/or commercial HVAC systems
- Experience with ductless mini-split systems, smart thermostats, and energy-efficient upgrades
- Ability to provide estimates for equipment replacement and system upgrades
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and refrigerant handling
- Reliable transportation and personal tools required
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in occupied units or public spaces

Education / Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Vocational training or certification preferred
Physical Demands
- Regular walking, standing, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Frequent operation of a motor vehicle
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Potential evening, weekend, and holiday work as needed
- Exposure to hazardous materials, heights, and confined spaces
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required in certain situations
