We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Business Support Officer to join our Client in Port Elizabeth. This role plays a key part in supporting and strengthening agricultural enterprises across the Southern Region, contributing to improved sustainability, efficiency, and long-term growth. The successful candidate will work closely with emerging businesses, providing guidance, operational support, and development input to help them enhance their performance, meet industry standards, and successfully participate in commercial markets. Responsibilities: Assess and analyze business operations to identify performance gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Assist enterprises in developing structured business plans, budgets, and financial projections. Provide ongoing advisory support across operational, financial, administrative, and HR functions. Guide business owners and management teams on sound record-keeping, reporting practices, and internal processes. Support the development of policies, procedures, and organizational structures within enterprises. Facilitate improvements in productivity and operational effectiveness through regular engagement and mentorship. Support businesses in preparing for market participation by ensuring compliance with relevant standards and certifications. Create and maintain connections between enterprises and key industry players such as buyers, logistics providers, and export partners. Assist in driving initiatives that improve product quality, efficiency, and competitiveness. Provide support in preparing funding applications and required documentation for financial assistance. Monitor financial practices and ensure alignment with funding requirements and agreements. Contribute to financial literacy initiatives and business training programs. Track and capture business performance data to support reporting and program evaluation. Contribute to reports on progress, challenges, and development outcomes. Share insights and best practices to support continuous improvement within the program. Act as a key liaison between stakeholders, including enterprises, partners, and internal teams. Represent the organization at relevant industry engagements, forums, and training sessions. Build and maintain strong working relationships within the agricultural and business development ecosystem. Requirements Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Development studies, Agribusiness or related. 3+ years experience in Business Advisor, SME support, or Agricultural Enterprise Development. Prior experience working alongside smallholder/emerging farmers. Experience with Donor-Funded or Enterprise Growth Programs will be advantageous. Valid Drivers License. Strong Excel experience. Compliance Management experience (Global G.A.P. / SIZA / PPECB).
