Technical Sales Representative - Forklifts

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Representative - Forklifts to join the Pretoria team, · Identify, approach, and secure new customers in the forklift and material handling industry (All major brands). · Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline through site visits, cold calls, referrals, and industry networking. · Persuasively present the companies superior service offering to win customers from existing suppliers. · Secure both urgent breakdown work and larger workshop jobs (overhauls, rebuilds, major repairs) · Spend at least 4 days a week on the road, actively visiting customers and prospects (Produce measurable reports). · Build lasting relationships through regular, planned visits - always being visible, accessible, and trusted. · Act as the first point of contact for technical queries and urgent support. · Work closely with the Branch Manager, Workshops and Branch administrators to align capacity with incoming work. · Use strong mechanical and electrical knowledge to understand customer issues and develop practical solutions. · Obtain parts quotes from multiple suppliers, always balancing quality with cost- effectiveness. · Make informed recommendations to keep customer repair costs competitive without compromising reliability. · Use the IFS system to generate accurate, timely quotes. · Understanding Flat Rates and guidelines. · Coordinate closely with Rental and External Admin to ensure smooth job opening, processing, and invoicing. · Assist at month-end with job closures and outstanding paperwork to meet financial cut-offs. · Always maintain a detailed customer visit plan 2 weeks in advance. · Keep full records of prospects, visits, quotes, and customer decisions. · Report regularly on pipeline progress, competitor activity, market trends, and pricing insights. Requirements · Grade 12 · Mechanical Trade Test in related field essential / Mechanical qualification · Minimum 3 – 5 years’ technical / mechanical sales experience in the forklift industry · Valid drivers license essential · Proficiency in MS Office · Must be willing to travel
