Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop a comprehensive policy strategy for 1–2 U.S. states relevant to EnergyHub’s VPP programs
- →Research and summarize state legislation, regulatory proceedings, and utility filings related to DERs, demand response, and VPPs
- →Track gubernatorial, legislative, and regulatory elections and assess potential impacts on VPP policy and market opportunities
- →Identify and map key stakeholders, including regulators, utilities, policymakers, advocacy organizations, and industry groups
- →Produce a written strategy memo and supporting briefing materials for internal use
- Assist in drafting components of a longer-term legislative strategy for the 2027 legislative cycle
- Analyze emerging policy trends at the state and federal level that may affect VPPs and DER markets
- Support scenario planning and policy positioning based on anticipated political and regulatory shifts
- Use AI tools to help connect and synthesize insights from policy research platforms and internal resources
- Help design an information-sharing strategy to translate policy and regulatory developments into actionable business intelligence
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to ensure relevant policy insights are shared in a clear, timely, and usable format
- Explore ways to improve internal workflows for tracking and communicating regulatory and legislative updates
Requirements
~1 min read- Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in public policy, political science, energy policy, economics, environmental studies, or a related field
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
- Interest in clean energy, grid modernization, and regulatory policy
- Familiarity with state or federal legislative and regulatory processes is a plus
- Comfort with technology and interest in using AI or data tools for research and synthesis
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders
- Hands-on experience shaping policy strategy for virtual power plants and DER markets
- Exposure to real-world regulatory and legislative processes affecting the clean energy transition
- Opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Customer Success, and Product
- Mentorship from experienced regulatory and policy professionals
- A deeper understanding of how policy translates into business strategy in the energy technology sector

EnergyHub is committed to pay transparency. The hourly pay range for this internship is listed below. The actual rate offered will depend on the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, and the location where the work will be performed.
This is a temporary, non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Interns are eligible for overtime pay in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law.
Interns are not eligible for EnergyHub's standard employee benefits, including medical, dental, or vision insurance; 401(k) or other retirement programs; paid time off; company-paid holidays; equity; bonuses; or commissions. Interns are eligible for any benefits required by applicable state or local law, including paid sick leave in jurisdictions that mandate it (such as Colorado, Washington, California, and New York City).
