Six-Month Internship: 15 February – 12 August 2027
Berlin or Grenoble (full-time, on site)
Engelhart’s Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in renewables and power trading analytics. Interns will work closely with front office teams on data-led projects that support commercial decision-making, optimisation, and risk management across energy markets. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have the right to work in the relevant internship location and be available to commence their six-month internship from 15 February 2027.

Requirements
~1 min readDepending on the internship opportunity, projects may include working with large trading, market or asset-related datasets, supporting optimisation work linked to renewable assets, PPAs, BESS, balancing risk management or systematic trading strategies, and developing Python-based analytical tools, predictive models, dashboards or workflows.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Work closely with a front office team on data-led projects within renewables, power or balancing risk management, depending on the internship role.
- →Analyse large market, trading or asset-related datasets to identify insights that support commercial decision-making, portfolio management, systematic trading strategies and, where relevant, automated trading execution.
- →Develop, test or improve analytical tools, models, dashboards or workflows using Python and other relevant tools.
- →Support optimisation under uncertainty, forecasting, predictive modelling, simulation, reporting or risk management activities, depending on desk requirements.
- →Conduct market research and present findings clearly to technical and commercial stakeholders.
- →Contribute to day-to-day desk activity, building practical understanding of how analytics supports trading and portfolio decisions.
Across our 2027 internship program, we are looking for motivated, intellectually curious individuals who are keen to apply strong analytical and technical skills to real business challenges in power and renewables markets. You should be comfortable working with data, learning quickly, and collaborating closely with front office teams in a fast-paced trading environment.
The following experiences and skills are essential for application:
- Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Quantitative Economics, Finance, Energy Economics or a related STEM field.
- Strong Python skills, with the ability to analyse, manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
- Strong grounding in statistics, econometrics, machine learning, predictive modelling or optimisation, with the ability to apply quantitative methods to practical trading, market or risk problems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured and detail-oriented approach.
- Evidence of applying data analysis, coding or quantitative methods to a practical problem, gained through academic projects, internships, research, personal projects or other relevant experience.
- Demonstrable interest in energy markets, including an ability to discuss relevant industry developments in power, renewables, risk management or commodities trading, gained through academic study, projects, internships, research, or personal interest.
- Business-level English proficiency.
- Right to work in Germany and/or Switzerland for the full duration of the internship.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the confidence to work closely with commercial and technical stakeholders.
- Intellectual curiosity, with the motivation to understand how market fundamentals, data and commercial decisions interact.
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience with SQL, data visualisation, advanced modelling techniques or applying machine learning / AI to market, trading or quantitative research problems.
- Exposure to optimisation, forecasting, time-series analysis, quantitative finance, algorithmic trading concepts or large trade/market datasets.
