About the Role
~1 min read- Provide therapeutic massage to hospice patients in various settings, including private homes, hospice facilities, and hospitals.
- Assess each patient’s needs and conditions before initiating treatment, with special attention to contraindications due to their illness or medications.
- Offer pain relief, enhance relaxation, and reduce anxiety and stress through gentle massage techniques.
- Work collaboratively with the hospice care team, including nurses, social workers, chaplains, and doctors, to provide comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services rendered, patient progress, and any changes in physical condition.
- Educate patients and their families about the benefits of massage and how to improve comfort and care at home.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, ethical standards, and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay up-to-date with current therapeutic massage techniques and hospice care practices.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families, showing empathy and respect for their individual needs and preferences.
Requirements
~1 min read- Valid and current state licensure as a Massage Therapist (LMT) required.
- Experience in providing therapeutic massage to individuals with serious or life-limiting illnesses preferred.
- Knowledge of hospice philosophy, palliative care, and end-of-life issues is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to travel to patient homes and various care settings.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in sensitive and emotional situations.
