Your work environment at EXP

EXP is searching for a Mechanical Designer to join our MEP team in our Markham, ON office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Central Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Under the supervision of senior mechanical engineers or project manager, produce design packages including schematic diagrams, floor plans, equipment room layouts and schedules.

• Develop plans and design layouts for mechanical systems that include HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gases.

• Create drawings and layouts using AutoCAD or Revit software to show mechanical systems on plans, sections, and elevations. Assist with interference coordination between building systems.

• Carry out the mechanical calculations to size ductwork, HVAC piping, plumbing, and drainage as required for the systems.

• Conduct site survey for existing conditions when required.

• Obtain information on equipment from suppliers and select equipment with input from senior designers.

• Attend site meetings during construction with a senior staff member.

• Contribute to all aspects of system level design and assist with other general tasks when needed.

What your experience looks like

• Mechanical Engineering Degree/College Diploma

• At least 2 years of related mechanical building services experience 

• AutoCAD experience required and REVIT MEP proficiency 

• Attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to read mechanical, architectural, structural drawings

• Ability to understand piping/plumbing diagrams 

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) products and Bluebeam

The salary range for this role is between $70K - $80K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
