The Role:

The Legal AI & Contract Management Associate supports the implementation, adoption and continuous improvement of AI-enabled solutions across the firm's contract management engagements. Working under the direction of the existing Legal AI lead and alongside legal delivery teams, the role translates contract review expertise and client requirements into reliable prompts, workflows, playbooks and quality controls.

The position combines practical legal analysis with hands-on AI configuration and implementation support. Its purpose is to help teams use AI safely and consistently to improve quality, speed, scalability and user experience, while maintaining appropriate human review and accountability.

  • Support the rollout of approved AI solutions across existing contract management engagements and contribute to implementation planning for new engagements.
  • Work with engagement leads, legal subject-matter experts and operational teams to identify, prioritise and define practical AI use cases.
  • Translate business and legal requirements into clear workflow designs, user instructions, acceptance criteria and implementation documentation.
  • Provide hands-on support during pilots, user acceptance testing, deployment, training and post-launch optimisation.
  • Own clearly defined prompt-development, testing, documentation and implementation workstreams with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Apply sound judgement to routine contract management and AI-quality issues, while seeking review for novel, material or high-risk matters.
  • Deliver accurate, well-structured work to agreed timelines and communicate risks, dependencies and progress clearly.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior legal professionals, engagement teams, technology specialists and client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate curiosity, adaptability and a practical improvement mindset in a fast-evolving area.
  •
    • Create, test and refine prompts grounded in commercial contracting principles, client playbooks and engagement-specific requirements.
    • Develop AI-enabled approaches for contract review, clause extraction, issue spotting, risk flagging and deviation analysis.
    • Design prompts and templates for contract summaries, executive summaries, obligation summaries, negotiation drafts, proposed redlines and fallback positions.
    • Create and maintain playbooks, clause libraries, decision trees, review guidance, structured outputs and other reusable legal knowledge assets.
    • Explore and prototype additional contract management use cases as new needs and ideas emerge.
    • Build representative test sets and evaluate outputs for legal accuracy, completeness, consistency, usability and alignment with approved playbooks.
    • Document prompt versions, test results, known limitations, escalation points and required human-review steps.
    • Identify hallucinations, unsupported conclusions, inconsistent outputs and other failure modes, and adjust prompts or workflows accordingly.
    • Apply the firm's requirements relating to confidentiality, data protection, information security, client permissions and responsible AI use.
    • Escalate high-risk legal, regulatory, confidentiality or technical issues to the appropriate senior owner.
    • Act as a practical point of support for legal teams adopting AI-enabled contract management workflows.
    • Prepare user guidance, prompt instructions, examples, training materials and knowledge articles.
    • Gather structured feedback from users and stakeholders and convert it into prioritised improvements.
    • Support troubleshooting and distinguish prompt, process, data, configuration and user-adoption issues.
    • Maintain a reusable library of approved prompts, playbooks, templates, test cases, lessons learned and implementation standards.
    • Share effective practices across engagements while respecting client confidentiality and information barriers.
    • Track emerging AI capabilities and recommend relevant experiments within the firm's governance framework.
    • Contribute to repeatable delivery methods that make future AI implementations faster, safer and easier to scale.
    • A legal education or equivalent practical experience in commercial contracts, contract management, legal operations or legal services delivery.
    • A strong working understanding of commercial contract structures, common clauses, risk allocation and contract review processes.
    • Experience translating legal or operational requirements into clear, structured instructions, templates, playbooks or workflows.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to test outputs systematically and identify inconsistencies or unsupported conclusions.
    • Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
    • Confidence working with multiple stakeholders, priorities and client-specific requirements.
    • Hands-on experience using generative AI or large language model tools for legal, contract management or knowledge-management use cases.
    • Experience with prompt design, structured outputs, AI evaluation, user acceptance testing or legal technology implementation.
    • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management platforms, document review tools, workflow automation or legal operations processes.
    • Understanding of responsible AI, data protection, confidentiality and information-security considerations in legal services.
