Responsibilities

  • Execute all job duties with a strong safety mindset. Follow all permitting, job safety, and food safety programs and procedures every time.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment such as valves, conveyors, compressors, packers, fillers, palletizers, filters, membranes, separators, blow molders, labeling, and pumps.
  • Troubleshoot, repair or replace control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed.
  • Perform work order repairs, preventive maintenance inspections and repairs, equipment rebuilds and adjustments.
  • Able to set up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools and other metal working equipment.
  • Fabrication, innovation and modification of new and existing equipment.
  • Create work orders for equipment repairs that include parts and document labor hours
  • Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

The minimum requirements for education and experience are listed below. Consideration will be given to individuals with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Have at least 3 years’ experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and basic electrical repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, schematics and drawings.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports as well as good verbal communication.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate is an asset.
  • Experience in the operation of a food beverage plant is an asset.
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use maintenance software to input work order and Preventative maintenance data, research and checkout parts.
  • Proficiency in English: Comfortable with both written and verbal communication, including reading and writing.

Regular use of a variety of machines and tools is essential.  Standing for extended periods is common.  Hearing and vision within normal range is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents, manuals and drawings.

  • Strong math and reasoning ability is essential. Able to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Stands, walks and sits during completion of job responsibilities over a 12-hour shift.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ongoing lifting requirements as job demands. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ongoing pushing or pulling requirements.
  • Bending/Stooping: Ongoing bending and stooping requirements.
  • Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Ongoing kneeling or crawling requirements.
  • Twisting/Turning: Ongoing twisting or turning requirements.
  • Climbing/Balancing Climbing and balancing is required during plant inspections, and other related job requirements. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 75 feet.
  • Reaching: Ongoing reaching requirements associated with job requirements.
  • Grasping/Manipulating: Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required. Ability to keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.
  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
