Location: Troutdale, OR 97060
Schedule: M-F, 6-8pm, with some flexibility.
Description: 14-year-old boy very happy and loves to play Roblox and loves to make YouTube videos. Family is looking for an energetic and patient DSP encourage the client to exercise. The client likes to go to Game Stop, on walks to the library, talking about his videos games. Mom wants the client to be out in the community, such as going on walks or playing basketball, rather than being on his tablet during the shift. When outside the client needs to be reminded to look both ways when crossing the street, to do so safely.
Responsibilities
-Support and encourage the client during in‑home ABA sessions, helping maintain engagement.
-Assist with light household tasks, such as helping him clean up after dinner.
-Participate in activities including reading, writing, movement games, and other interests he enjoys.
-Provide occasional community access while ensuring safety and positive experiences.
-Offer consistent behavior support in coordination with existing supports already in place.
-Use clear, direct communication and reinforce appropriate boundaries to support structure, safety, and successful interactions.
Qualifications
-Experience with ABA, behavior management, or working with children with developmental disabilities is preferred.
-A patient, interactive, relationship‑focused approach.
-Strong communication skills and the ability to establish and uphold healthy boundaries.
-Someone who is active, engaged, and comfortable supporting a child with high energy
Direct Support Professional (DSP) / In Home Care Giver Responsibilities and Duties:
This role involves caring for a client on an individual basis in their home environment as well as taking them out into the community to learn skills and socialize. This role varies depending on the client but can involve teaching skills of independent living such as self-care, behavior management, budgeting, cooking, shopping and cleaning. Family Relief Resources is not a physical facility -100% of activities happen in the community or a client’s home.
The day-to-day duties of the DSP role requires:
- Smart Phone
- The state requires all client visits to be tracked with GPS location verification at clock in/out. You will need a smart phone to access the timekeeping application once you arrive at the client’s location.
- Driving
- Have a valid license and car with current insurance. Some clients will need transportation.
- Documenting
- Must create and enter specific progress notes after each shift. Also, a progress report is due once per quarter.
- Scheduling
- Each DSP has a set schedule and must be able to maintain this with clients.
- Reliability
- Because Family Relief Resources is not a facility, we need reliable employees who can work independently, show up for their shifts, and be excellent communicators with their client’s families and with our agency.

- Helping those with disabilities requires a person who can be patient in all situations, show kindness, and have a positive attitude toward the client and other members of the client’s family even in challenging situations. - Flexibility
- Being able to adjust to different types of personalities and disabilities from day to day.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 18 years or older
- Pass a Criminal History Check.
- Work a minimum of 15 hours per month.
- CPR and First Aid Certificate (within 3 months of hire)
- State required online training courses (pre-hire and within 3 months of hire)
- Continuing Education (24 hours per year)
- Basic knowledge of technology, including the ability to use a smartphone for timekeeping, submitting daily and quarterly shift reports, communication with office and client family, and additional requirements as needed.
- Has direct experience working with children and/or adults with varying levels of support needs (Including experience with intellectual and/or behavioral disabilities).

- Understand requirements of maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding individual information.
- Be literate and capable of understanding written and oral orders.
- Be able to communicate with individuals, health care providers, case managers, and appropriate others.
- Be able to respond to emergency situations when services are being delivered.
