We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Operations Engineer / Architect to lead and manage cloud operations, security, and governance initiatives within a small business federal consulting environment. This is a highly hands-on role focused on owning and supporting AWS infrastructure, ensuring compliance with federal cloud security standards, and driving operational excellence across cloud environments.
This is not a pure software development role. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical operations lead and trusted cloud advisor with deep expertise in AWS architecture, cloud security, governance, and operational support.
Lead and manage enterprise IT and data-focused programs from planning through execution and operational support
Coordinate cross-functional teams including developers, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
Oversee project schedules, milestones, system releases, and operational activities across multiple teams
Manage program risks, dependencies, issues, and change requests to ensure successful delivery
Collaborate with technical teams supporting Oracle, PostgreSQL, AWS, APIs, and reporting platforms
Coordinate system outages, release activities, and production support efforts across organizations
Support Agile project management activities including sprint planning, backlog tracking, and status reporting
Develop and deliver program briefings, dashboards, reports, and executive-level updates
Utilize tools such as Jira, ServiceNow, Confluence, and SharePoint to manage workflows, documentation, and project activities
Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, define priorities, and align technical efforts with business objectives
Ensure testing, quality assurance, and operational readiness activities are completed successfully
Support cloud-based initiatives and data migration efforts within AWS and related environments
Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams to ensure alignment and successful program execution
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
Must be willing and able to work hybrid on-site in the location listed
Strong experience supporting and managing AWS cloud environments in an operational or architecture-focused role
AWS Solutions Architect – Professional certification
AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional certification
AWS Security Specialty certification
Experience owning and operating production AWS environments
Strong understanding of AWS security, governance, and operational best practices
Experience with cloud infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support
Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to work independently within a small business environment
CISSP or CISM certification
Experience supporting federal government cloud environments
Familiarity with NIST, FISMA, and FedRAMP compliance requirements
Experience working within federal consulting or government contracting environments
