Your Role

As a Data Scientist in Operations, you will be at the forefront of optimizing how FINN manages and scales its operational infrastructure. You will leverage advanced forecasting and optimization models to predict capacity needs, drive efficient resource distribution, and solve operationally critical challenges that directly impact the business. Your work will uncover hidden patterns, validate the impact of operational strategies, and deliver actionable recommendations to the operations team. This role is perfect for a proactive problem solver who thrives at the intersection of data science and logistics, and is passionate about turning operational complexity into scalable, data-driven solutions. We’ve fully embraced AI-assisted development to amplify our impact, and we’re looking for a teammate who is excited to build and innovate using modern, AI-driven workflows too.
  • Generate data-driven insights: Perform in-depth data analyses to understand operational patterns, capacity dynamics, and resource utilization, delivering actionable insights that drive efficiency improvements.

  • Build and validate proof-of-concepts: Develop POCs for innovative operational strategies, test and validate their impact on key performance metrics.

  • Design and own advanced optimization models: Create and maintain forecasting and optimization models using machine learning and operations research techniques to ensure scalable and efficient operations.

  • Shape and evolve operational strategy: Leverage your analytical expertise to refine and enhance FINN's operational processes, ensuring alignment with growth targets and business objectives.

  • Collaborate: Partner with other data and tech teams as well as operations stakeholders in a cross-functional setup and align your work with business objectives.

  • Graduated with a Master's degree in a relevant data field of study (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Applied mathematics), a PhD is a plus.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in operations-heavy environments (preferably logistics, supply chain, mobility, or e-commerce fulfillment).
  • Technical expertise: Proven track record in data and time-series analysis, statistical modelling, and implementing forecasting and optimization models from scratch.
  • Proven experience integrating AI tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) into your daily analytics workflow to write code, explore data, and ship work.
  • Proficient in Agentic development.
  • Proficient in the data stack: SQL, Python, GCP.
  • Operations & optimization expertise: Experience in building and deploying capacity planning, resource allocation, or logistics optimization solutions end-to-end.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Skilled at presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences, including C-level.
  • Problem-solving: Exceptional ability to break down complex operational problems and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Flexibility: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities – operations doesn't wait.
  • Fluent in English. German is a plus.
  • Remote Work: You have the flexibility to work either in our Munich office or remotely in Germany.
  • Shared Success (VSOP Equity Program): We win together. Through our Virtual Stock Option Program, you benefit directly from the long-term growth and success of FINN.

  • Fuel your Growth (3.000€ Development Budget): Standing still is not an option. With your annual development budget for further training and seminars, you decide how you want to grow personally and professionally.

  • Family First (Childcare Subsidy & Flexibility): We support you and your family. Benefit from a monthly childcare subsidy, exclusive access to daycare spots in Munich, and maximum flexibility to balance work and family life stress-free.

  • Company Pension Scheme (bAV): We think about your future. FINN subsidizes your company pension plan with a strong employer contribution of 66%.

  • Experience our Product (25% Car Subscription Discount): Become a FINN driver yourself! You will receive a generous employee discount or can alternatively take advantage of our attractive bike leasing scheme.

  • Munich Office Life: Barista-style coffee, matcha, and a luscious fruit basket await you at our modern headquarters in Munich. On top of that, there is a daily lunch subsidy for those in the office.

  • Team Spirit & Corporate Events: We are more than just colleagues. Whether it's summer events by the lake or simply a relaxed after-work drink, we celebrate our milestones together at regular team events.

  • FINN is Germany’s leading car subscription platform and one of the country's few unicorns in the mobility sector. With over 400 colleagues from more than 50 nations, we are building the future of mobility and making access to your own car more seamless than ever before.

What truly makes us proud, however, isn’t just the numbers, but what lies behind them: our strong team drive, the will to challenge the status quo, and the ambition to make a real difference.
