Summary:
Under the direction of the Project Team Lead, the Heavy Equipment Operator- Dozer Operator is responsible for assisting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman with accomplishing the project goals and day-to-day objectives and to conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.
Key Focuses:
Operate and maintain the dozer in a safe and efficient manner as required to meet specified operational deadlines
Operate controls to properly regulate height and angle of the blade
Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and walk around inspection prior to operating the equipment
Operate the dozer on surfaces to raise or lower terrain either as specified in the scope of work; reclamation; ditching, sloping, levelling, ripping, pushing piles, rough to final grading, clean up support for soil, rock or other debris.
Operate dozer proficiently in close proximity to other vehicles, ground personnel, and utilities
Maintain equipment, report any maintenance required
Adhere to all Fort McKay Group of Companies policies and procedures, wear/maintain all PPE, reliably show up for work fit for duty, and complete any Field Level Hazard Assessments
(FLRA) and control hazards related to the scope of work
Assist the Labourers or any other Operator as needed
Perform any related and/or additional construction duties as assigned
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
Retention of a valid class five (5) driver’s license is required
3 year Drivers Abstract is required
At least 3+ years of experience operating a dozer with construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in an environment relating to Reclamation, Civil Earthworks, Mining, or Oil/Gas is required.
CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a temporary, project based position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the Syncrude Aurora site.Work schedule is 14 days on, 7 days off; days and nights. 11.5 hour shift.
