As an accounting specialist at Gallup Federal Credit Union, you’ll serve as the operational backbone of our accounting function, ensuring precision, integrity and reliability in every transaction. You will manage general ledger activity, oversee accounts payable and reconciliation processes, and help prepare accurate financial reporting that supports sound decision-making and regulatory compliance.
This is a hands-on role designed for an experienced accounting professional who values ownership, thrives in a highly regulated environment, and is energized by improving systems and processes. On this small, collaborative team united by a shared mission, you’ll gain broad exposure and the opportunity to grow into expanded responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Manage all general ledger activity and ensure daily, weekly and monthly reconciliation accuracy
- →Oversee accounts payable for the credit union and affiliated entities
- →Prepare and support monthly financial statements and internal reporting
- →Support audits and regulatory examinations by gathering documentation, responding to requests and independently resolving follow-up items
- →Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with highly regulated credit union policies and procedures
- →Monitor transactions, identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively
- →Strengthen accounting processes by implementing improvements that enhance accuracy and control
- →Collaborate across the credit union to support operational excellence and financial integrity

Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field required
- At least five years of accounting experience required
- General ledger experience required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting required
- Proficiency with accounting systems required; QuickBooks experience preferred
- Experience in a bank or credit union accounting environment preferred
- Experience supporting audits or regulatory examinations preferred
- A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s Omaha office five days per week required
- Eligibility to work in the United States required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship

Gallup offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and other insurance options; a fully vested 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching; an employee stock ownership program; family-building benefits; an employee assistance program; and various reimbursements and activities that enhance our associates’ wellbeing. We also offer an estimated annual salary range of $75,000-$85,000 for this role. Salaries are based on a variety of factors, including an individual’s education, experience and skills.
