Software Engineer — Consumer Engagement

The Consumer Engagement team builds the platforms that power those experiences, from the content management system (CMS) and rendering infrastructure to the technologies that determine how Gallup appears in search engines and AI answer engines.
As a software engineer on the Consumer Engagement team, you'll modernize the systems that deliver and surface Gallup’s content around the world. You'll build scalable software, design back-end services and solve complex engineering challenges involving performance, CMS architecture and AI-driven search while helping more people discover CliftonStrengths®, employee engagement and Gallup's other sciences.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Develop and maintain high-performance web applications that power Gallup's public-facing digital experiences with an emphasis on scalability, accessibility and reliability
- →Modernize Gallup's content platform through API-driven architecture, content modeling and CMS evolution that enables teams across the organization
- →Engineer the technical foundations that improve Gallup's discoverability across search engines and emerging AI experiences
- →Design back-end services, APIs and data models that support reliable content delivery and cross-platform integrations, with attention to schema integrity and query performance
- →Analyze consumer engagement data using Python to identify opportunities that improve relevance, return and discoverability
- →Partner with product, marketing and UX teams to deliver technical solutions that enable self-service publishing and continuous optimization
- Web performance instincts: You think about and verify how pages load, why they slow down and what rendering strategies best serve different types of content and users.
- CMS fluency: You have worked with headless or decoupled CMS architectures and understand content modeling, API-driven delivery and migration strategies.
- Back-end engineering: You enjoy building scalable back-end services, working with data and designing reliable systems while remaining comfortable contributing across the full stack.
- Discovery orientation: You understand how search engines and AI systems consume and rank web content, and you find the intersection of engineering and discoverability compelling.
- Collaborative ownership: You communicate clearly across disciplines, document your decisions and contribute to a team culture where engineers ask "why" before they ask "how."
- AI fluency: You thoughtfully explore and implement ways AI can accelerate development workflows and openly share what works with the team.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience, required
- At least three years of professional experience with Python or JavaScript required
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining production full-stack web applications required
- Working knowledge of back-end development and API design that supports content delivery at scale required
- Experience operating in cloud environments and designing for performance, reliability and security required
- Familiarity with discoverability fundamentals including technical SEO, structured data and crawlability required
- Experience with data modeling, databases, schema design and query performance required
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve engineering workflows required
- A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s Omaha office at least three days per week required

We also offer an estimated annual salary range of $95,000-$125,000 for this role. Salaries are based on a variety of factors, including an individual’s education, experience and skills.
