As a strategic communications manager at Gallup, you’ll lead communications strategy and high-impact earned media campaigns that amplify world-class research for our clients.

We partner with global and U.S.-based public-sector clients across corporate social impact, nonprofit and government landscapes to ensure their research reaches the audiences who matter most. In this role, you will serve as the communications expert for your clients, translating complex data into compelling narratives that resonate with decision-makers and global audiences.

You bring strong media contacts at top-tier organizations as well as relationships with independent news influencers and a deep understanding of today’s news landscape in areas such as workplace trends, AI and emerging technologies, and issues impacting American culture and life. Leveraging the strength of Gallup’s research and your expertise in media relations, you will drive measurable communications outcomes that elevate both our clients and Gallup’s thought leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to lead integrated communication strategies and earned media campaigns aligned with client objectives and emerging news cycles
  • Manage communication initiatives from insight development through media activation, ensuring accuracy, clarity and impact at every stage
  • Advise clients, internal teams and external partners on how to position findings for maximum reach, relevance and credibility
  • Translate complex research and data into compelling narratives, press materials and media pitches
  • Build, manage and grow relationships with national and global media contacts
  • Proactively identify opportunities to insert Gallup research into timely conversations and high-profile outlets
  • Orchestrate report launches, briefings and outreach with precision and urgency
  • Operate seamlessly between big-picture communication strategy and meticulous execution, independently managing multiple fast-moving priorities
  • Partner closely with researchers and client teams to ensure alignment between research insights and communication strategies
  • Measure and evaluate media impact, tracking results against objectives
  • Use AI-enabled tools to enhance research, media targeting, message development and workflow efficiency

  • Driven professionals: You are responsible for contributing high-quality work, operating with urgency and delivering measurable results. You are confident in your expertise and comfortable advising senior leaders and clients.
  • Smooth operators: You will be placed in situations involving senior leaders from Gallup, its clients and other high-profile individuals. In these situations, you are able to act with discretion and decorum, representing yourself and Gallup in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in public relations, journalism, communications or marketing
  • At least three years of experience in journalism or PR, including agency and client services experience, required
  • Demonstrated success leading earned media campaigns required, preferably for research, public policy or social impact initiatives
  • Experience working with reporters and established media contacts required
  • Strong data fluency required, including the ability to independently analyze survey results and crosstabs to identify accurate, newsworthy insights
  • Experience with Meltwater or other media software required
  • Proficiency with AI tools required
  • A commitment to working on-site at Gallup’s Washington, D.C., office at least three days per week required
  • Eligibility to work in the United States required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship

Gallup offers a robust benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and other insurance options; a fully vested 401(k) retirement savings plan with company matching; an employee stock ownership program; mass transit reimbursement; family-building benefits; an employee assistance program; and various reimbursements and activities that enhance our associates’ wellbeing. We also offer an estimated annual salary range of $85,000-$125,000 for this role. Salaries are based on a variety of factors, including an individual’s education, experience and skills.
