Flanders, NJ

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of facility systems, utilities, and infrastructure across Garonit Pharmaceutical's Fairfield and Flanders, New Jersey locations. This role serves as a technical resource for building systems, HVAC, electrical distribution, utility equipment, and manufacturing support infrastructure, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with cGMP, FDA, and regulatory requirements.

The position plays a key role in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, facility upgrades, equipment installations, and capital improvement projects. The Facilities Engineer works closely with Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to maintain reliable facility operations and support future site expansion initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for facility utilities, building systems, and manufacturing support equipment.
  • Serve as the technical expert for troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation systems.
  • Support operation and maintenance of facility electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, generators, UPS systems, and emergency power infrastructure.
  • Oversee HVAC, building automation, environmental monitoring, and utility systems to ensure reliable operation and compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Support maintenance and optimization of purified water, compressed air, chilled water, steam, and other critical facility utilities.
  • Lead installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities for facility systems, utilities, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) related to facility and utility performance.
  • Provide technical support for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and building automation systems used to monitor and control facility operations.
  • Coordinate with IT and Automation teams regarding facility-related controls, communication networks, and connected building systems.
  • Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance programs meet regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Review and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, maintenance records, and facility drawings.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and service providers supporting facility operations and capital projects.
  • Lead facility improvement projects, utility upgrades, energy reduction initiatives, and infrastructure modernization efforts.
  • Partner with Operations and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Provide engineering support for both the Fairfield and Flanders facilities, including periodic travel between locations.
  • Support facility expansion projects, validation activities, and long-range engineering planning.
  • Strong knowledge of facility utilities, HVAC systems, electrical distribution systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS), PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
  • Understanding of industrial communication networks and controls infrastructure as it relates to facility and utility systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, HVAC schematics, control diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance, reliability engineering, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, OSHA, and pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements.
