 The Opportunity 

As the Software Engineer – Team Lead, you will be expected to be leading from the front in the development, support, and delivery of quality Gentrack products by designing solutions, sharing knowledge, and mentoring team members and other developers across the whole group. Leading by example in the pursuit of excellence in all areas is fundamental to this role.   

Your success will be reflected by:  

  • Ability to take on multiple tasks within the wider Delivery Engineering group and to proactively acquire the product, technical, market and customer knowledge necessary to deliver your contributions.  
  • Active participation in all aspects of agile software development.  
  • The successful design and delivery of software from your team to customers.  
  • Ability to bring others with you, to engage and enable them to be successful.  
  • Ability to lead workshops and designs with customers.  
  • Continuously driving improvements to practice and process.  
  • Your alignment with Gentrack’s values, culture, and strategy.
     

 

The Specifics   

  

  • Analyse customer requests across any scale  
  • Produce solution artefacts and estimate as external deliverables  
  • Peer review large project designs  
  • Develop, maintain, deploy, and support software developed by yourself and others.  
  • Produce relevant documentation to assist with knowledge transfer.  
  • Actively participate in planning, stand-ups, estimation, retrospectives, and backlog grooming as appropriate.   
  • Provide internal and external customer training and support  
  • Identify and highlight relevant risk, design and implement mitigation and resolution strategies 
     
  • Lead projects delivering quality solutions and service through waterfall or agile or mixed approach  
  • Lead software development and processes across a stream of work to meet project deliverables  
     
  • Identify, articulate and make improvements to product and ways of working  
  • Communicate to customers in all communication channels  
  • Provide advice to customers on operational and business strategies ensuring the best use of Gentrack products  
  • Provide advice to customer on industry best practices  
  • Influence customers in roles such as business case, discovery, testing and implementation in support and project delivery  
  • Promote the benefits of Gentrack’s system to existing and new customers  
  • Provide technical guidance to teams of engineers  
  • Coach and mentor staff as appropriate  
  • Be a key influencer for technical best practice  
  • Be a positive role model  
  • Make customers and their needs a primary focus of your actions, developing and sustaining productive relationships.  
  • Be pro-active and accountable for adding value for customers  

 

What we're looking for (you don’t need to be a guru at all, we’re looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you): 

 

  • 8+ years commercial software development experience  
  • Experience in senior development positions  
  • Designing solutions in agile SDLC  
  • 5+ years working knowledge of CRM and Billing Systems  
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant technologies and concepts including Object Orientated Design, Enterprise Database, AWS, GIT, Web Services, CRM, Utilities industry, SDLC and Agile Methodologies.  
  • Can do attitude  
  • A passion for excellence and a commitment to be the best.   
  • High levels of energy, sound judgement and determination to achieve with a sense of urgency.  
  • High attention to detail.  
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills.   
  • An open-minded consultative approach.  
      
  • Ability to creatively solve problems.
