Equipment Operator

CRA Landfill Operations Limited (CRALOL) operates the Green Lane Landfill under contract for the City of Toronto (City) with responsibility for all aspects of the landfill operations, maintenance, construction, and development. Since April 2007, CRALOL has managed the operations at the Site including the acceptance of waste, scale house operations, landfilling, compaction and cover operations, stormwater management, leachate management, landfill gas (LFG) flaring/management system, leachate treatment plant (LTP), odour control program, and on-site buildings/facilities. Currently, the CRALOL contract with the City extends through December 2029.

Heavy Equipment Operators

The Heavy Equipment Operator operates the heavy landfill equipment as part of day-to-day operations including waste compactors, dozers, excavators and/or rock trucks and tractors.

• Equipment Operation and Maintenance as part of day-to-day operations and a good understanding of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations

• When working at active face of landfill directs waste haulers, via radio communications, where to dump their waste load

• Prepares working face of landfill for acceptance of special waste streams in accordance with operating procedures

• Inspects loads of waste when being off-loaded to identify any unacceptable waste streams and communicates with Landfill Manager & Weigh Scale Manager/Operators if there is unacceptable waste

• Recording required Vehicle/Equipment Inspections and communicating with Landfill Manager of any areas of concern

• Health and Safety Stewardship

• Jobsite housekeeping

• Work in areas of uneven terrain

• May assist in the training of new or less skilled Equipment Operators

• Perform other duties as assigned
