Our US East Water business has an opening for a Resident Project Representative (or Construction Inspector) whose experience is focused in the area of water and wastewater facility and pipeline construction.  As a Project Representative (Inspector), you will be responsible for performing field verification of conformance with contract documents for medium and large water and wastewater projects managed from our Bowie, MD and/or Chantilly, VA offices. Projects may include water distribution lines, gravity sewer lines, wastewater pump stations, and water and wastewater treatment plants.  

This position is part-time, as needed.

  • Represent GHD as the on-site primary liaison between the construction manager, Owner and the Contractor throughout construction of the project
  • Provide on-site observation of construction activities including reviewing products against approved submittals
  • Administer weekly onsite coordination meetings with the Contractor, Owner, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party materials testing, including but not limited to soils and concrete
  • Work with client operations staff, as required, to coordinate shutdowns and other construction activities that affect Owner operations
  • Maintain an on-site set of redline drawings documenting final installed materials/equipment along with any project deviations
  • Assist with contract closeout documentation
  • Assist in construction schedule reviews
  • Acquire and maintain all certificates, submittals, testing reports, operations and maintenance manuals, and other related construction correspondence
  • Utilize GHD web-based document management system, or alternative document management systems deemed appropriate by project team for all construction documentation including submittals, RFIs, change management, daily field reports, inspections, and any other contract documentation

Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma / GED; degrees, certifications, and other documented training and education is a plus
  • 8-15 years of experience in general contracting, construction inspection and/or construction management, with a focus on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects
  • Experience with reading and understanding construction plans and specifications
  • Familiar with the current standards and specifications for Soil Erosion & Sediment Control
  • Familiar with various construction means and methods of pipeline identification, tracing, pressure testing, and installation procedures
  • Experience working with multiple subcontractors and demonstrated effective communication with clients, Owners and Contractors
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to use multiple platforms and devices for documentation and communication, such as MS Word, Excel, and Teams and tablets, cameras, and mobile devices.
  • Able and willing to work in the field 90-100% of the time

Benefits:

  • 401K - Employees are eligible to participate on the first day of the month following 3 months of service

Salary Range: $29.50-$49.50 based on experience and location.
