Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly passionate and motivated Transformer Applications Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on supporting the technical bidding and submittal processes for our medium voltage pad mount transformers and high voltage power transformer offerings. The ideal candidate will work cross-functionally with domestic and international team members and occasionally with manufacturers to ensure effective communication of and alignment with customer equipment requirements for projects.

  • Assess customer requirements from bid documents, technical datasheets, schematics, single/multi-line drawings, and meetings to compile internal equipment specification documents
  • Serve as a technical resource for technical sales engineers in the scoping and development of bid proposal documents
  • Communicate project specifications with internal engineering, operations teams, and external engineering to assist in accurate costing and scoping estimation of projects
  • Assist in drafting of equipment device bill-of-materials including the selection of suitable components and monitoring devices
  • Evaluate alignment of supplier and partner proposals with customer requirements and internal standards (pre and post-drawing)
  • Support internal and external engineering team understanding of project needs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and competitor offerings
  • Participate in meetings with vendors and foreign application engineers, both virtually and in-person, to support the team
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination between sales, manufacturing, engineering, and customer support departments
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as needed

We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.

That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.

We hire people who thrive in chaos and get sharper under pressure. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot the gap and fill it. When there's work to be done, you do it. You make decisions with the information you have, move fast, and adjust along the way. We're not looking for perfect; we're looking for people who get things done.
