BIM Lead - Data Center
Quick Summary
Why Join Giga The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
What We Offer
~1 min readResponsibilities
~1 min readGiga Energy is seeking an experienced BIM Lead to oversee the development and integration of Building Information Models (BIM) across our data center construction portfolio. This role is responsible for coordinating all project stakeholders — architects, structural, MEP, and civil disciplines — to optimize the design, construction, and operation phases of mission-critical projects. The BIM Lead manages digital construction data, enforces model integrity, and drives the workflows that allow Giga's projects to be delivered with speed, accuracy, and constructability.
We are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.
- Develop, manage, and update BIM models supporting design, construction, and operational handover.
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, MEP engineers, civil engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure model accuracy and consistency across disciplines.
- Conduct clash detection and lead the resolution of coordination issues using Navisworks, Revit, or equivalent tools.
- Facilitate regular coordination meetings to review model progress, identify issues, and develop resolutions.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all internal teams and external partners.
- Create, Implement and enforce BIM standards, protocols, naming conventions, and best practices across all projects.
- Develop, maintain, and manage BIM Execution Plans (BEP) for each project.
- Perform quality control checks and model audits to ensure compliance with Giga standards and project requirements.
- Provide feedback to project teams to drive continuous improvement in modeling practices.
- Maintain Revit templates, family libraries, and shared content to support consistent project delivery.
- Generate 2D drawings, schedules, and other deliverables from BIM models as required for permitting, construction, and operations.
- Prepare and maintain documentation including model progress reports, clash detection reports, and coordination meeting minutes.
- Maintain an organized digital filing system for project models and related documentation in accordance with Giga's data management standards.
- Provide technical support and training to project teams on BIM processes, tools, and workflows.
- Stay current on BIM technologies, software developments, and industry trends.
- Evaluate and recommend new BIM tools, plug-ins, and workflows to enhance project efficiency and quality.
- Support the broader engineering and construction teams in leveraging BIM data for prefabrication, scheduling (4D), and cost (5D) workflows where applicable.
