Responsibilities

Giga Energy is seeking a Construction Safety Specialist to support the safe execution of new construction projects, including new-build power generation, data center, and infrastructure sites. Reporting to the Construction Safety Manager, you'll implement site-level safety programs, run inspections and audits, deliver hands-on training, and drive a strong safety culture among Giga employees, contractors, and subcontractors throughout each project's construction phase. This is a field-based role at the center of protecting our workforce and keeping every site compliant with OSHA and company standards as Giga's construction portfolio scales.

  • Implement and enforce the site-specific Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plan for assigned new construction projects, working under the direction of the Construction Safety Manager.
  • Conduct daily job site safety walks, inspections, and audits to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviors; document findings and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead and participate in pre-task planning, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks with construction crews and subcontractors.
  • Deliver new-hire safety orientations and ongoing training on topics such as fall protection, electrical safety, excavation/trenching, crane and rigging, confined space entry, and hazard communication.
  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns; complete root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, inspection logs, training documentation, and incident reports in company EHS systems.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with Giga Energy safety requirements, OSHA regulations, and applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Support permit-to-work processes, including hot work, confined space, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) permits.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and participate in site emergency drills.
  • Assist the Construction Safety Manager in preparing safety performance reports, metrics, and trend analysis for project leadership.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, and recognition of safe work practices.
  • Exercise stop-work authority: intervene and halt any activity posing an imminent risk to personnel, equipment, or the environment.
  • Travel between active new-project construction sites as assigned, with extended on-site presence during peak construction phases.

This is a remote based role with heavy site-based requirements. You'll be assigned to active new-project construction sites — including new-build power generation, data center, and infrastructure projects — with regular travel between sites and extended on-site presence during peak construction phases. This role sits outside our standard in-office hub model given the nature of construction safety work: you need to be where the work is happening, walking the site daily. When you're not traveling between active sites, you'll coordinate closely with the Construction Safety Manager and project leadership based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and scopes of work.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with craft workers, subcontractors, and project management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS/incident-reporting software.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders and stairs, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb structures and ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel to and work on-site at active construction projects, including extended assignments.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
