JOB DIMENSIONS:   Job Summary: Under Direction and reporting to the Foundry Operations Manager, the Foundry Technical Manager is responsible for the management of Foundry Customer Relations as well as coordinating with other company departments in the areas of Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Environmental Health and Safety.  The Foundry Technical Manager is a key interface between Foundry Customers, Foundry Operations, and the various departments that manage and direct these other functions within the organization.    Reports to:  Foundry Operations Manager   Key Duties and Areas of Responsibility: Customer Relations Works with the Foundry Operations Manager on establishing appropriate Customer interactions, including quoting, lead time communication, customer follow up, and technical support.  Works with the Foundry Operations Manager on pursuing new customers, developing marketing strategies, as well as implementing strategies to retain the existing customer base. Quality Works with the Quality Department to capture foundry quality records, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are executed so that quality mistakes are not repeated. Holds production staff accountable to Specification and Customer directed Quality Requirements Engineering Works alongside Engineering management, overseeing the Additive Manufacturing mold production program.  This includes establishing appropriate throughput and profitability expectations, with clear accountability and reporting in both aspects.  Works alongside Engineering Management and the Director of Foundries, providing technical direction and management of the company’s Solidification Software Initiatives. Environmental Health and Safety Works alongside the Foundry Operations Manager for ensuring that all Foundry employees follow established EHS procedures and protocols. Works alongside the EHS Department in the development and continuous improvement of Safety Procedures, Job Hazard Analysis, and ongoing Foundry Safety Training. Works alongside the EHS Department on ensuring the company is compliant with Environmental operational, permitting, and reporting obligations, optimizing efficiency while ensuring compliance throughout the foundry organization.   Operations Works alongside the Foundry Operations Manager for day-to-day throughput and efficiency of foundry production processes including pattern making, core and mold production, pouring, grinding, heat treatment, non-destructive testing and other foundry processes.  Assist the Foundry Operations Manager in the management of production staff, ensuring that day to day tasks are fulfilled according to production requirements and established company procedures.  Works with the Foundry Operations Manager to optimize manufacturing processes and equipment.  Fully comply with and enforce company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.   QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES: Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:   Experience/Training/Education: Minimum 5 years of foundry operational experience including roles in Management and Technical Support.  A Bachelors of Science degree in an area of Engineering, Foundry Sciences, or other similar technical area of study.  Spanish Language Skills (written and verbal) preferred.    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Extensive knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous foundry production operations; Considerable knowledge of management theory, principles, and practices; Thorough knowledge of supervisory principles and motivational techniques; Extensive knowledge of materials and production costing; Considerable knowledge of budgeting practices; Considerable knowledge of quality control practices and statistical measurement processes; Able to learn to operate a computer and applicable software programs; Knowledge of marketing and sales principles and techniques; Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, supervision, and department representa­tives; Knowledge of company personnel policy and procedures; Able to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing; Able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings; Able to direct operations, assign work to supervision, and delegate responsibility; Able to prepare and present management reports; Able to evaluate effectiveness of foundry operations and recommend measures to increase productivity and raise quality and profit levels.   Physical Requirements:  Able to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, lift, move, and carry objects and materials weighing 50 pounds or less; able to walk to different areas for inspection purposes; and able to operate a motor vehicle. Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined; Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.     Special Requirements:  Possession of a valid Class C or Class 3 California driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
