Custodial Supervisor

McPherson College is seeking an experienced, hands-on Custodial Supervisor to lead our custodial team while helping maintain a beautiful, clean, and welcoming campus.

As Custodial Supervisor, you'll split your time between working with the custodial team and providing day-to-day leadership.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• →Working alongside custodial staff to clean classrooms, offices, residence halls, athletic facilities, and public spaces.
• →Planning daily work assignments and coordinating custodial coverage across campus.
• →Training new employees on cleaning procedures, equipment, safety practices, and College standards.
• →Coaching, mentoring, and supporting custodial staff while fostering a positive team environment.
• →Conducting building inspections to ensure consistent quality and cleanliness.
• →Coordinating major cleaning projects, including floor refinishing, carpet cleaning, wall washing, and summer deep-cleaning activities.
• →Evaluating new custodial products and equipment to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• →Maintaining custodial checklists, records, schedules, and performance evaluations.
• →Collaborating with other Facilities Management staff to support special events and campus operations.

Successful candidates will have:

• Experience supervising or leading a custodial, housekeeping, facilities, or similar operations team.
• Strong knowledge of commercial cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical handling.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• The ability to motivate, train, and develop employees.
• Good judgment, dependability, and a commitment to quality.
• A customer-service mindset with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• The ability to perform the physical requirements of custodial work, including lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and remaining active throughout the workday.

This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening, weekend, or overtime work may be required to support campus events, special projects, or operational needs.
