Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware failures on mission-critical storage, network, and server systems using physical, remote, and operating system tools.
- →Perform break-fix on servers of any type, including server migrations such as moving drives into a new-generation chassis while preserving the RAID configuration.
- →Deploy servers and network devices — switches, load balancers, and related infrastructure — including data and power cable management, testing, and installation.
- →Own inventory and logistics, receiving equipment from OEMs in Workday, shipping equipment out, completing monthly break-fix parts inventory, and running inventory audits.
- →Manage and prioritize the ticket queue to meet Service Level Agreements with business partners, while training and developing junior Technicians and maintaining documentation for the equipment you support.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in a data center environment, working tickets independently and resolving complex issues with minimal direction. Experience supporting enterprise customers in an operations environment, with clear verbal and written communication and a track record of conducting effective training.
- Intermediate skills in two or more of these areas: Linux and/or Windows systems administration, networking concepts, scripting or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Java, Perl, Ruby, or PHP), or data center architecture.
- Intermediate experience with IT hardware concepts: RAID, storage, hardware diagnostics and repair, SAS/SATA, boot process and boot loader, file systems, directory structure, and base operating system installation.
- Working knowledge of core OS services (SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, LDAP), remote management protocols (KVM, iDRAC, IPMI), and network device and protocol configuration. Familiarity with ITSM concepts such as ITIL 4 and Agile methodologies, rack and power optimization, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Available for afternoon shifts, an on-call rotation, and travel between data center sites when needed. Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
