The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) provides standards, services, tools, and training that empower organizations of all sizes to assess and report on their environmental, social, and economic impacts. We engage in a multi-stakeholder process to develop our standards, setting best practices for sustainability reporting.   

The GRI Standards are widely used around the world and contribute to the establishment of a global sustainability reporting system. Our priorities and partnerships support long-term value creation, benefiting people and planet.

About the Role

Join a dynamic team driving meaningful impact through innovative grant programs. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects end-to-end, collaborate across teams, and ensure excellence in both program delivery and financial stewardship. You’ll play a key role in shaping successful initiatives that make a real difference aligned with GRI's mission. 

Responsibilities

  • Defines the grant activity planning following established project-management practices, including e.g. the compilation of a GANTT charts and the identification of a critical path for the project. 

  • Manages day-to-day activities in project implementation, attentively monitoring progress on the yearly plan, tracking performance indicators and making sure that any deviation from the plan is promptly addressed or escalated. 

  • Oversees project-management aspects, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, operational good practice and program objectives.   

  • Leads the grant narrative reporting process, including tracking deadlines, coordinating and reviewing inputs from implementing teams and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. 

  • Reviews legal instruments for third parties (MoU’s, service agreements and grant agreements), ensuring alignment with programs’ objectives, budget and deliverables, managing senior leadership validation and signatures. 

  • Supports activities and consultancies for impact measurement, including reviewing MEL consultancies, research projects and case studies assessing deliverables quality and stewardship with donor reporting requirements.  

  • In collaboration with Finance, provides oversight over financial management of the project both in terms of compliance with donor regulation and performance against the budget.  

  • Approves financial expenditure related to program activities, ensuring alignment with program objectives, contractual obligations with external partners, and budget provisions. 

  • Reviews fundraising proposals prepared by the fundraising team to ensure alignment with current programs and team capacity and supports Finance in developing the associated budgets for activities and teams.   

  • Supports organizational leadership and the fundraising team in engagement with the donor, by providing insights into the progress of the project and support on queries and information requests.

Requirements

  • Qualification in Business Administration, Management, Economics, or a related field. 

  • Previous experience in a similar role (i.e. managing donor-funded projects, grant writing for non-profit organizations) in an international environment. 

  • Experience of managing multi-country, multi-year grants with institutional donors.  

  • Project-management qualification is an asset. 

  • Experience with design & management as well as monitoring & evaluation for development projects and programs or a strong willingness to acquire these skills quickly through formal and on-the-job training. 

  • Ability to operationalize projects, effectively breaking down the path to project outcomes into outputs and activities, and establishing reliable performance indicators. 

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prepare activity plans, engage and coordinate multiple stakeholders. 

  • Flexibility and capability to perform on a broad range of areas, from capacity building, to financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and narrative reporting. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively. 

  • Strong analytical skills and desirable experience with PowerBI, Excel, or other analytical tools. 

  • Attentive to detail with strong organizational and time management skills. 

  • Proactive and results-driven with the ability to build and maintain strong work relationships internally and externally. 

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment where change is ongoing. 

  • Able to work in an international and multi-cultural setting. 

  • Affinity with the mission of GRI. 

What We Offer

Location: Remote (Hybrid if in the Netherlands; within +/- 6 hours CET; (candidates must have an existing valid permit to work in the country they will be based)
Work hours: Full-time (40hrs/week; flexible)
Contract type: 1-year contract with the possibility of renewal
Base salary:  €46,051 - €51,168 (European based range) per annum on full-time basis
