MEDICAL SCIENCE LIAISON (MSL)
The salary range for this position is between $180k and $195K. Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience. The company also currently offers a Long-Term Incentive Plan (cash plan) of 20% base salary, annual performance bonus target of 20% base salary (subject to meeting plan requirements) and comprehensive benefits.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a critical role in advancing Averitas’ medical strategy through high-impact field medical engagement and cross-functional collaboration. As a scientific expert in pain management and associated therapeutic areas, the MSL serves as a trusted partner to healthcare stakeholders by delivering scientific exchange, disease state education, and actionable medical insights that support improved patient care.
This role requires the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), identify emerging trends and unmet needs within the healthcare landscape, and contribute meaningfully to the successful execution of current and future medical initiatives. The MSL operates within a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment and demonstrates agility, strategic thinking, and a strong commitment to compliance and patient centricity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Scientific Engagement & Field Medical Activities
- Serve as the medical and scientific expert for Averitas products, and relevant disease states
- Engage in peer-to-peer scientific exchange with KEEs and other healthcare stakeholders to advance disease state understanding and appropriate product utilization
- Deliver accurate, balanced, and compliant medical information in response to unsolicited requests
- Gather, and communicate medical insights and emerging trends from the field to internal stakeholders to help inform medical and business strategy
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Trainings and other internal partners while maintaining appropriate compliance boundaries
- Represent Averitas with the highest standards of scientific integrity, medical ethics, and patient focus
- Identify opportunities for scientific collaboration aligned with company medical objectives
- Medical Education & Scientific Leadership
- Deliver scientific education and training programs for internal and external audiences
- Support and facilitate scientific meetings, congress activities, and educational initiatives
- Provide competitive intelligence and insights related to the therapeutic landscape, scientific data, and evolving standards of care
- Maintain awareness of relevant clinical guidelines, publications, and scientific advancements
- Contribute to knowledge generation, scientific storytelling, and dissemination of medical information to support organizational goals

QUALIFICATIONS, CAREER EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
A combination of relevant education and applicable job experience will be considered.
- Qualifications
- PharmD, PHD or MD
- Career Experience
- 2-4 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry as an MSL preferably in Specialty disease fields
- Prior pain product experience and/or medical device, specialty pharmaceutical, or biologic product launch preferred
- Experience with introducing new specialty pharmaceutical/biologics products or indications
- Experience of working in a start-up environment, with a strong sense of urgency and agility to adapt to the dynamic needs of the business with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment
- Demonstrable understanding of industry trends and market insights including the various unique needs of various healthcare stakeholders such as KEEs (Key External Experts) and payers
- Skills
- Strong interpersonal and presentation (written and verbal) skills, with the ability to interact with customers and senior management
- High ethical and professional standards with all business contacts and at all levels
TRAVEL
- The ability to travel up to 60%-70%, including overnights, as dictated by business need and attend all company sponsored events/meetings/conferences.
- Current possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
LOCATION
- Must be able to live and work within the territory in accordance with the company’s policy for field-based roles
