ABOUT GYMGUYZ SILICON VALLEY
GYMGUYZ Silicon Valley provides mobile, in-person fitness and physical education trainer to schools and community partners throughout the Bay Area. We partner with school campuses to deliver structured, curriculum-aligned Physical Education programs that build lifelong movement skills, teamwork, and healthy habits in students of all ages.
POSITION SUMMARY
GYMGUYZ Silicon Valley is hiring energetic, reliable, and certified PE Trainers to lead in-person Physical Education classes for elementary and high school students at partner campuses in Castro Valley and nearby cities. Trainers will teach on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, delivering fitness, skill-development, and game-based lessons that align with the partner school's PE curriculum framework. We are filling two openings — one male and one female PE Trainer — to ensure appropriate coverage and support across locker room/changing-area supervision and all student groups on campus.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and deliver structured, curriculum-aligned PE lessons for assigned elementary and/or high school class blocks, including dynamic warm-up, fitness and skill development, small-group practice, full game play, and cool-down.
- Ensure full, active student participation in every session, adapting instruction to include all skill levels.
- Deliver skill-building instruction using a Teaching Games for Understanding (TGFU) approach — progressing students from drills to strategy, positional play, and full game application.
- Incorporate state/provincial Health curriculum content as assigned by the campus.
- Provide differentiated instruction, offering modifications, challenge, and advancement opportunities for students at different ability levels.
- Schedule and lead regular water/hydration break throughout each lesson.
- Serve as the primary PE point of contact for the assigned campus, providing consistent updates and feedback to Campus Administration and leadership.
- Administer quarterly anonymous student feedback surveys on the PE program and report results to Campus Administration.
- Participate in quarterly class observations with Campus Administrators, Board Members, and/or the Campus Principal.
- Create and maintain a long-range PE instructional plan and keep it accessible to campus leadership.
- Build, update, and review PE course assignments in the campus learning management system (e.g., Canvas), maintaining consistent instructional quality.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment; follow all campus safety, supervision, and interaction policies.
- Wear approved, loose-fitting PE staff attire that allows full movement and demonstration throughout the teaching day.
- Communicate professionally with school staff, administrators, and parents as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Prior experience teaching, coaching, or training elementary and/or high school-aged students.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required).
- PE, coaching, or fitness-related certification or degree (e.g., Physical Education teaching credential, Kinesiology/Exercise Science degree, NASM/ACE/NASPE certification, or equivalent) preferred.
- Ability to pass a background check / Live Scan fingerprint clearance to work with minors.
- Strong classroom and group-management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and safely supervise groups of students.
- Reliable transportation and availability for a consistent Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule.
- Physical ability to actively demonstrate exercises, drills, and sports activities for the full class period.
- Professional, punctual, and collaborative approach to working within a school environment.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Days: Monday (Male Trainer), Wednesday (Female Trainer), and Friday (Male Trainer), during the school day (exact times set per campus).
Pay: $100 per hour.
This posting includes two openings — one male PE Trainer and one female PE Trainer — to meet campus supervision requirements across all student groups.
