Role Scope: 

We are looking for a Director of Transportation, reporting to the Vice President of Practice Operations, who is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and oversight of all transportation services for PACE participants. This role ensures safe, reliable, timely, and cost-effective transportation that supports access to medical care and social services, while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. 

  • Building, scaling, and managing a safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation program that supports PACE program goals and participant needs, including development of transportation model, managing transportation software, oversight of day to day operations model, and management of transportation vendors.   
  • Track key performance metrics, such as on-time performance and utilization rates.  Continuously improve service delivery. Ensure timely and efficient transport of participants to and from PACE centers, medical appointments, and community services, guiding the transportation department to 
  • Oversee daily transportation operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatch. Optimize routing and scheduling to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.  
  • Manage transportation contracts and internal fleet management, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and lifecycle planning. Lead, mentor, and manage transportation staff. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and licensing requirements required by all regulatory bodies, including Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), state health departments, and Department of Transportation (DOT).  
  • Manage and oversight of Transportation Department budget, monitoring costs and identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Evaluate vendor contracts and negotiate agreements with third-party transportation providers when needed. 
  • May require occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call availability.  

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field required. 
  • 5–8+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet operations 
  • 3–5+ years in a leadership role 
  • Experience in healthcare, senior services, or PACE programs strongly preferred 
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems and routing software 
  • Familiarity with CMS and DOT regulations 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to manage budgets and analyze operational data 

 

Nice to have: 

  • Master’s degree preferred  
  • Bilingual preferred  

Compensation:  

We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for medical/dental/vision insurance, paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents), short and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) savings, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The expected salary range for this position is CA range: $162,000 -$189,000 or Chicago range: $152,000 - $178,000. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location.
