Harrison Street is seeking to hire an Associate to join our Compliance team that will focus on the investor onboarding, supporting our Investor Relations team and assisting in the management of the firm’s compliance program.  Compliance-related experience is preferred, but self-starters with superior written and oral communication skills will also be considered.  While the position is not formally in the legal department, the role will directly or indirectly report to the firm’s General Counsel, and candidates with legal training will also be considered.  The individual must be able to effectively manage multiple immediate, short-term and medium-term assignments.

This position will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.

Compliance Tasks:

  • Initial/Annual AML check of all investors.
  • Distribution of various compliance and reporting materials to investors.
  • Maintain legal documents for active mandates.
  • Assist with various regulatory filings.
  • Assist in management of employee compliance, including certifications and attestations in compliance management platform.
  • Conduct Marketing/PR reviews.
  • Conflicts of interest review and record-keeping.
  • Investor Relations Support:

  • Manage distribution of offering documents to prospective investors and communication during onboarding process.
  • Assist with investor closing process.
  • Assist with management of investor assignments/transfers of interest.
  • Assist with annual REIT closings.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Prior work in compliance for a private equity manager preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and manage compliance-related technology platforms.
  • Highly motivated, organized, disciplined and self-directed individual eager to learn all facets of the firm’s compliance program.
