POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the direction of the Senior HR Business Partner, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will be responsible for a variety of Human Resources (HR) activities and duties related to on-boarding, compensation, benefits, training, and employee relations within an assigned business unit. This position is also responsible for technical and administrative HR functions, recordkeeping, file maintenance and HRIS.  The HRBP is a Human Resources professional who effectively leads others to achieve our HR goals and initiatives. The HRBP maintains a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Senior HR Business Partner for enterprise-wide alignment and support.   
  • Partner with leaders and employees across the organization to provide guidance and resolution on employee relations matters, complex personnel issues, workplace concerns, and organizational effectiveness while fostering a positive employee experience and maintaining compliance with company policies. 

  • Collaborate with the Senior HR Business Partner to develop, implement, and continuously improve HR strategies, policies, programs, and processes that align with business objectives, industry best practices, labor laws, regulatory requirements, and CBA provisions. 

  • Lead and support employee engagement, culture, community involvement, performance management, organizational change, and talent development initiatives to strengthen employee and leadership relationships and drive business results. 

  • Coordinate and support compensation, benefits, leave management, and related HR programs, including open enrollment, payroll partnership activities, FMLA/HFLL/TDI/LOA administration, and employee program oversight. 

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, HRIS data, reporting, record retention practices, and compliance documentation, including affirmative action plans, EEO reporting, VETS data, and other regulatory requirements. 

  • Analyze HR trends, practices, and workforce data to recommend and implement improvements in employee relations, compensation, workforce planning, and compliance programs. 

  • Coordinate company-wide HR programs, training and development activities, meetings, events, organizational changes, security access administration, and other operational HR processes to ensure efficient service delivery across the organization. 

  • Manage HR-related administrative functions, including invoice processing, vendor coordination, documentation management, and cross-functional collaboration with payroll and other business partners. 

  • Travel to Hawaiian Host Group locations as required to support employees, leaders, and business operations. 

  • Performs other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned to support the Human Resources function and organizational objectives. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience, or Associate Degree and five (5) years progressively responsible experience. 

  • Strong customer service orientation with strong communication (both verbal and written) and good listening skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work directly with employee, manager, and executive level personnel frequently.  

  • Ability to establish and build key relationships to collaborate and work effectively at all levels. 

  • Solid understanding of the workings of HR and great sense of business acumen.  

  • Proficient math skills and proficiency with computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. 

  • Produces accurate work, with attention to details; a sense of urgency; and ability to handle multiple priorities.  

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work to consistently meet due dates. 

  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner. 

  • General knowledge of both state and federal employment laws. 

  • Must be flexible and able to travel, including occasional nights and weekends as needed.
