Assesses adult critical care and med-surge patients for PICC services needs. Provides safe and effective PICC services to the hospital patients. Assess and monitor vital signs of patients admitted in the outpatient infusion center.
Education & Experience Bachelor's degree preferred in Nursing or Associate's degree in Nursing/Diploma plus two (2) years of RN experience in Critical Care or Medical Surgical.
Description
To provide education to patients and staff on and the care and maintenance and/or discontinuation of PICC lines. To consult with physicians and nursing staff on an ongoing basis regarding psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedural process and communicates with physician and other team members regarding care and condition of patients throughout the procedural stay. To perform PICC line insertions on patients. To serve as a liaison to staff. To perform job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose. To participate in continuous quality improvement goals and outcomes.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Interpersonal skills, must have high level of concentration and maintain confidentiality. Expected to have problem solving skills related to procedural priority, personnel assignments and next level of care assignments. Must have appropriate computer skills and technical skills to maintain equipment. Must be able to set up and maintain equipment unique to this area and maintain clinical competencies according to INS standards, established policies and procedures of PICC services.

~1 min readRequires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, frequent activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, frequent climbing, frequent crouching/stooping, occasional driving, frequent kneeling, constant pushing/pulling, constant reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
Requirements

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: Valid RN license, ACLS or PALS required within ninety (90) days of employment, successful completion of basic EKG course required within ninety (90) days of employment.
