Healthier Generation works nationally and locally with schools and school districts, youth-serving organizations, businesses, and communities – building their capacity to create healthier environments where young people can thrive. Our work, in total, has reached more than 31 million children and meaningfully improved environments to support the physical, social, and emotional health of the next generation, especially those from underserved communities. Our programs are evidence-based and evidence-informed, supported by a robust digital/virtual/live training platform and action center, as well as direct-to-community services. Through Healthier Generation programs, products and services, more children nationwide are gaining the opportunity to build a healthy future.

Requirements
~2 min readBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
CPA certification and/or Master's degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial management experience in a nonprofit environment.
Experience managing general ledger activities, financial reporting, month-end and year-end close processes, and audit preparation.
Experience supporting annual budgeting and forecasting.
Experience with grant-funded organizations, fund accounting, activity-based accounting, job cost coding, or similar methodologies required.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial compliance, and audit requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems; experience with Sage, BILL, and Concur strongly preferred.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, and financial reporting tools.
Experience optimizing financial systems and automated reporting tools to improve efficiency and decision-making.
Experience supervising and developing accounting or finance staff preferred.
Experience managing outsourced accounting providers, external accounting firms, or third-party financial service partners preferred.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive matters with discretion.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial audiences.
Ability to translate complex accounting and compliance requirements into practical and understandable business information.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Ability to proactively identify issues, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements.
