Part-Time PMHNP - Virginia-Autonomous Practice

Backpack Healthcare is looking for a Virginia-licensed PMHNP who values clinical autonomy, meaningful work, and genuine collaboration.

We provide accessible mental health care for children, teens, and young adults through telehealth. As a clinician-led, minority-owned organization, we're building a different kind of behavioral health experience — one where clinicians have the autonomy to practice at the top of their license while still having a strong team behind them.

You'll provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, teens, and young adults through telehealth, with a focus on accessible, evidence-based, family-centered treatment.

Your day-to-day will include:

• →Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and developing diagnostic formulations
• →Creating individualized treatment plans with patients and families
• →Prescribing and managing psychotropic medications
• →Monitoring treatment effectiveness, safety, and clinical progress
• →Providing brief supportive interventions and psychoeducation
• →Collaborating with therapists, psychiatrists, and care coordinators through case consultation and care planning
• →Educating families about diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and expected outcomes
• →Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in the EHR
• →Supporting a culture of high-quality, trauma-informed, culturally responsive care

• Active, unrestricted Virginia PMHNP license
• Ability to practice independently without an MD collaboration agreement — required
• PMHNP-BC board certification
• Active DEA license
• Master's or doctoral degree from an accredited PMHNP program
• Experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and/or families preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort practicing autonomously
• Comfortable delivering care through telehealth
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Compassionate, culturally responsive approach to patient and family care
• Afternoon, evening, and/or weekend availability required
