Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.
As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.
We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams – and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.
The Facilities Manager is the operational backbone of Helsing's workshop and site function. This role ensures that our engineering and flight test teams can work safely, efficiently, and without friction. You will take full ownership of the physical environment, from workshop organisation and equipment readiness to site security and contractor coordination. You will serve as Site Security Lead, Site Fire Marshal, and First Aider, meaning your work has a direct and material impact on the safety of everyone on site. Beyond the day-to-day, you will be the primary point of contact for the landlord, external contractors, and visiting clients, representing Helsing professionally and ensuring every visit runs without issue. This is a role for someone who takes pride in creating an environment where others can do their best work.
-
Own the organisation and upkeep of the workshop, establishing clear, consistent systems for tool storage, equipment locations, and consumable stock so the engineering team can find what they need without delay
-
Manage inventory and procurement of tools, parts, and consumables, maintaining accurate logs of borrowed, repaired, and available items and reordering before stock runs out
-
Oversee maintenance and repair of workshop infrastructure, including benches, racking, shelving, lighting, and shop-floor equipment, and manage external contractors for work outside the team's scope
-
Act as Site Security Lead, ensuring all visitors are vetted, justified for entry, signed in, and briefed comprehensively on site safety procedures before access is granted
-
Serve as the primary contact for contractors, the landlord, and building works, resolving site issues promptly and escalating where necessary
-
Lead all site safety activities as Site Fire Marshal and First Aider, managing fire and site risk assessments, issuing safety notices, and maintaining accurate safety records
-
Respond to out-of-hours site emergencies, providing key management and acting as first point of contact when issues arise outside normal working hours
-
Coordinate customer and VIP visits end-to-end, ensuring all visitor requirements are anticipated and met to a high standard
-
Handle waste management, invoice processing, and budget administration for workshop and site expenditures, supporting financial oversight and reporting
-
Coordinate logistics for on-site events, meetings, and training sessions, managing scheduling, resources, and setup
-
Manage the works vehicle fleet, ensuring regular servicing, efficient loading, and vehicle readiness ahead of field deployments
-
Have built and maintained safe, well-organised workshop or facilities operations in a hands-on environment
-
Have managed external contractors, building works, or site infrastructure and can hold suppliers accountable to quality and timelines
-
Hold or have actively practised responsibilities as a Fire Marshal, First Aider, or site safety lead, with experience conducting or overseeing risk assessments
-
Have coordinated vehicle fleets, including scheduling maintenance, managing compliance, and preparing vehicles for operational deployments
-
Communicate clearly and calmly with a wide range of stakeholders, from engineers and landlords to senior clients and visiting personnel
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.

The work is unique. We operate in a domain that has highly unusual technical requirements and constraints, and where robustness, safety, and ethical considerations are vital. You will face unique Engineering and AI challenges that make a meaningful impact in the world
-
Our work frequently takes us right up to the state of the art in technical innovation, be it reinforcement learning, distributed systems, generative AI, or deployment infrastructure. The defence industry is entering the most exciting phase of the technological development curve. Advances in our field of world are not incremental: Helsing is part of, and often leading, historic leaps forward
-
In our domain, success is a matter of order-of-magnitude improvements and novel capabilities. This means we take bets, aim high, and focus on big opportunities. Despite being a relatively young company, Helsing has already been selected for multiple significant government contracts

We actively encourage healthy, proactive, and diverse debate internally about what we do and how we choose to do it. Teams and individual engineers are trusted (and encouraged) to practise responsible autonomy and critical thinking, and to focus on outcomes, not conformity.
