Junior Mechanic

Summary/Objective 

Under supervision performs various basic repairs that are necessary for the maintenance of all vehicles and equipment; performs related work as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Ability to diagnose and perform basic vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components
• Oil changes
• Tire rotation and tire changes
• Replace filters
• Change brakes
• Ability to work on mechanical and electrical systems
• Conduct test drives on trucks
• Perform quality inspections prior to returning vehicles to the crew
• Communication with vehicle operators
• Ability to work on diesel vehicle preferred
• CDL A is a plus but not a requirement
• 1-2 years’ experience preferred

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with weekends and travel expected.

Travel
Travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Valid driver's license and must have a clean driving record

Eligibility Qualifications

• 10-year criminal background search.
• Clean driving history
• Pre-employment drug screen
• Valid Driver's License (REAL ID).
• Social Security Card.
