Responsibilities
~1 min read- Develop meaningful relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they’re at, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them.
- Identity potential student leaders and work with them to develop leadership skills and strategic thinking
- Oversee social media presence, engagement tracking and outward student communications
- Ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of students.
- Mentor student leaders to successfully grow and motivate them to go from ideas to action.
- Oversee all Hillel programs at UCSD ensuring all programs are student-led, accessible, relevant and meaningful.
- Strategic vision of programming calendar
- Manage the programming budget
- Facilitate Jewish learning and ritual observance when appropriate
- Serve as informal Jewish educator for students on Jewish issues, observance, cultural practices, etc.
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to staff and student leaders to design and facilitate meaningful shabbat and holiday experiences
- Ensure Hillel is an indispensable partner to the university by develop relationships with university officials, faculty, and student government committees relating to Hillel’s interests
- Serving as the face of Hillel for prospective families, community members, and UCSD admin/faculty
- Build strong coalitions with other organizations and cultural centers on campus.
- Supervise and support engagement staff (currently Springboard Jewish Learning Fellow and Israel Fellow)
- Empower staff to reach engagement metrics and programming excellence
- Appropriate deployment of staff resources to program
- You’re an experiential Jewish educator and Jewish role model.
- You’re a leader who works well to create consensus within teams.
- You thrive in the details of event and program planning, balancing creativity, hospitality, and execution to create experiences people want to come back to.
- You’ve supervised students, staff, or volunteers and understand that great leadership starts with strong relationships.
- You understand social media and have strong computer literacy skills, including GSuite proficiency.
- You’re not afraid of the pressure cooker. You’re an expert at handling deadlines and competing priorities.
- You’re proactive and seek out opportunities.
- You’re a critical thinker who embraces data and knowledge to develop solutions to problems.
- You’re so organized, your sock drawer is color-coded.
- You have a four-year degree.
- Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $85,000.
