Hillel of San Diego is seeking a creative, entrepreneurial, and relationship-driven Social Media Engagement Associate to help expand our reach and deepen engagement with students, alumni, and supporters across the San Diego community. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who is equally energized by developing compelling digital content and building authentic relationships in person.
Social Media Engagement Associate will lead social media strategy and content creation across multiple platforms while also serving as a frontline engager, connecting with students in the spaces and places where they naturally gather. This position plays a critical role in strengthening Hillel's brand, cultivating meaningful relationships, and growing participation among key audiences.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy designed to engage three primary audiences:
- Current and prospective students
- Donors and community supporters
- Alumni
- Create, produce, and manage high-quality content across Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
- Capture photos, videos, interviews, testimonials, and event highlights that showcase the impact of Hillel's work.
- Develop audience-specific messaging and campaigns that drive engagement, attendance, donor stewardship and fundraising, and community awareness.
- Monitor analytics and performance metrics, using data to refine content strategy and maximize reach and engagement.
- Stay informed about trends in digital marketing, social media, and Gen Z engagement.
- Support efforts to strengthen alumni relationships and foster lifelong connections to Hillel and Jewish community life.
- Partner with advancement and leadership teams to create donor-focused content that demonstrates impact and inspires philanthropic support.
- Help cultivate pathways for students to transition from active participants to alumni and future supporters.
- Develop meaningful relationships with Jewish students across San Diego campuses and throughout the broader community.
- Meet students where they are by engaging on one of our four main campuses, community colleges, and at community events.
- Identify and connect with students who are not yet engaged in Jewish life and help them find pathways into the Hillel community.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create innovative engagement opportunities that reflect the diverse interests and identities of today's Jewish students.
- Track interactions and maintain accurate engagement data using organizational systems and CRM platforms.
- Increased engagement and growth across social media platforms.
- Expanded reach among previously unengaged Jewish students.
- Stronger connections with alumni and community supporters.
- Increased attendance and participation in Hillel programs and initiatives.
- Consistent, compelling storytelling that elevates the visibility and impact of Hillel of San Diego.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging social media content and managing multiple digital platforms.
- Strong storytelling, writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing tools, or similar content creation platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for relationship building.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, experiment, and innovate.
- Comfort working evenings and occasional weekends.
- Knowledge of Jewish life, culture, and community is preferred but not required.

Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $52,000.
